Watching Helen Stitch

Many folks find needle painting intimidating and difficult, even though this very realistic technique gives amazing results. I was quite pleased to discover that the English embroiderer Helen M. Stevens has posted a series of short videos on her Helen M. Stevens True Embroideries Facebook page.   The videos show exactly what she does to create realistic flowers and each is full of great tips for better stitching and better realism.  I think these are practice videos that are supplements to Helen's classes.

If you aren't familiar with Helen's books or embroideries, here's a real treat--her website.  Note her eBooks section for those who want to take a lesson with Helen from the comfort of their home.  If you don't have a Facebook account, you can certainly see other videos Helen's made by following the links at the bottom of the home page.

Helen's eBook publisher, Vivebooks, also has a YouTube page where there are six more videos by Helen, all different than the ones above, so you can indulge yourself with lots more needlepainting there as well.
