Sorry

Sorry about the flurry of posts today. Blogger is having problems and has been publishing the articles I wrote this morning to be published in a few weeks all at once, even though the publication date is in the future. Oh, well, these things happen!

Guess I'd better stop writing and go stitch instead.

I Worry About You Guys

I review Blog's statistics periodically,  looking at who my audience is and what they are interested in. Over the last 18 months or so there has been a shift in the country of origin of Blog visitors. While the bulk of Blog readers are in the USA, the China-Russia-Ukraine group is now the second most populous block of visitors, replacing the UK-Canada-Australia group which has dropped off dramatically. That's why I made sure to add a Translate button on Blog and the CH Stitch Guides blog, so that you can understand my rambling messages.

Given the political situation in Ukraine, I wanted the many Ukrainian and Russian visitors to know that regardless of where you stand politically, I am worrying about you guys.  Stay safe and take comfort in your needle in these uncertain times.  Your needlepoint friends in the US are praying for peace!

Cottage Garden Threads Display

Threadaholics will love looking at the stitched sampler of all the Cottage Garden Threads that were available up until last fall.   Cottage Garden Threads is an Australian company that specializes in overdyed cottons so seeing each color name stitched gives you a wonderful idea of the effect of each overdye.

This is a new company and their threads aren't readily available in the U.S. but they are worth seeking out if you need a special color or just want to play with something new ordered from Australia.

Need a Tree?

This year Needlenook of La Jolla is doing a monthly club of ornaments for display called Trim-A-Tree Club.

The tree that is free if you participate in the club is also available for sale if you aren't doing the club. Since it is quite a nice metal tree, I thought I'd post the information here since so many of us are always on the lookout for an ornament display item.  Please note that the tree is now only available in brown although the photograph appears to be of a black iron tree.

Great Ideas

This morning I have several great ideas for our stitching. The first tip comes from Renee at Pepita/Gone Stitching.  She has a great idea for stitching a challah cover without spending a ton of time with your needle.

Rachel is busy using light and dark shades of red to highlight certain areas of her canvas.  (She tried out a fellow student's Daylight Magnifying Glasses and loves them, by the way.)

Speaking of color, Ruth is custom blending the colors she wants.  For those of you not interested in color, she also shows off some of her stitching that was in the Shoreline Stitchers Exhibit in April.

Great ideas from great stitchers!  Thanks.

Rosie and Sue Do Woodlawn

Sue and Rosie made the trip to the D.C. area to take in the shops and view the Woodlawn exhibit.  Luckily, Rosie took notes and photos when she could.  Here is their adventure!  First, a stop at Ruth Schmuff's shop, Bedecked and Beadazzled.  The second link is to Threedles' "A Different View," in case you aren't familiar with this Kurdy Biggs design.

Then there is the exhibit itself.

And a side trip to In Stitches and Needles and Threads of Ruxton!
