Happy 4th of July! UPDATED

As today is when America's birthday is celebrated, it is appropriate that we listen in as Brenda describes stitching reproduction chair cushions using the pattern Martha Washington used when she stitched cushions for George's beloved Mt. Vernon.  The photos of Martha's shell patterned cushions I've seen led me to believe that these were pink on a pale yellow background.  How much time has faded the colors!  I didn't know they were done in cross stitches, either.

These are very elegant and will be wonderful in the restored dining room.

UPDATE:  I found an article that shows off the cushions better, both an original and the repo ones done for Mt. Vernon.

Brenda stitched one of the reproductions.

Happy July 4th to you as well. Thank you for sharing my post. The cushions are stunning in Mt. Vernon's petite parlor.

Brenda, thank you for posting about Martha's design. I always thought it was lovely and it is great to learn more about her stitching and Mt. Vernon.
