This posting by Nimble Needle got me thinking: Which painted canvas or counted canvaswork design stops you in your tracks? Doesn't matter if you will ever stitch it, what matters is it is something that you consider a classic.

I love all three of your choices. I have Moon Goddess and work on her sporadically. It is so intricate that I don't want to use a lot of complicated stitches, because I don't want to lose the wonder that those details create.

Ruth Schmuff has a piece that is an oriental lady kneeling by and gazing into a pool that is a classic must have for me. I have never seen it on her website, but she almost always has it at B&B when I visit, and I do want to buy and stitch that.

I was stopped in my tracks recently by the Canvas Of The Day showing a woman in a chilly garden! She was Mar, I think, so there should be others from Janvier to Decembre - and she was wonderful. I've been trying to track her (and her eleven sisters?) down, but no luck so far. I greatly enjoy Art Nouveau and she's a gorgeous example. Sadly, that's all the info I can give.
I know exactly what canvas you describe. The series was from the now closed Isobel's Needlepoint. March was on the Canvases Be Gone website. I don't know that they had others or that you'll be able to find the entire set. Keep an eye on eBay!
I wish I could see Ruth's kneeling lady piece. Sounds like a classic! Of course Peter Ashe's designs are certainly classics. Thanks for the link so I could see them! Say hi to the critters for me, OK?
Love your choices! I have two of them in my stash - the Peter Ashe Japanese Tea Garden and the Lee Moon Goddess. I had a store do a layaway on the moon goddess piece when Lee retired and before her line was purchased because I didn't want to miss that piece. Haven't sadly done anything with it though. Also near the top of my list are many of the Liz stockings - I have one of a train at night that is breath-taking.
My current favorite is a counted design, Walk the Wild River by Linda Reinmiller. The class starts next week through Cyberpointers.

I'm a huge Leigh's Design fan and have several of her canvases. My favorite has to be the lady of the night - you've done the one I have :), then her show girls and then her masks (have two of them).
When I look at them I have all kinds of ideas, but then I chicken out and let it stare me in the face for years. Anyways, you get the idea, I'm obsessed.
I know exactly what you mean about being obsessed. Generally I pick canvases that whisper ideas to me but some are just so "right" that I can't help wanting them, even if I know I'd never stitch that dream canvas.
