A Reminder of How Lucky We Are

A glimpse of the national news reporting on the aftermath of cyclone Sandy shows me how lucky we were in Chilly Hollow. Folks to the southwest of us are struggling to stay warm during a heavy snowfall while folks along the coast all the way up to Maine have lost homes or loved ones while major metropolitan areas are struggling to keep order among chaos.  We didn't even lose a tree and today the river is down enough I will be able to go to the post office and grocery store if I choose.

So think of those who weren't so lucky and donate to places like the Salvation Army or the American Red Cross if you don't have a local charity that deserves your hard earned cash.  Share a bit of your good fortune with those whose luck ran out earlier this week, please.

Needlebook Class

Time to make needle books! And what beauties they are! If I were handier with my hand sewing I'd sign up but I guess I will just have to admire them from afar.  Besides, it is impossible to decide which class kit I like better.  Maybe Santa will bring me one of each?

Visiting The Enriched Stitch via Skype

I'd heard that the Laura Perin class Enriched Stitch did with Barbara Bergsten went well, but I was still surprised to see that the shop is willing to set up a Skype virtual visit to their shop.   This is an exciting way to visit a shop when you can't actually be there.  They also use Facetime, which is on the newest iPhones.  Being able to talk to real stitchers and visit a real shop when you are bedridden, live half way across the country, or have no local shop anywhere near you is a blessing.  Kudos to Enriched Stitch!

Christmas and Needlepoint

I've always liked Anne Stradal's Nutcracker ornament set.  Mer's been busy stitching ornaments.

The entire set is shown off on the ABS Designs website.  Enjoy!
