Twisting Flat Silk

I should have subtitled this Neat Japanese Embroidery techniques!  Mary Corbet has two new videos up on her website.  One shows how to twist flat silk for Japanese Embroidery and the other shows how to frame up fabric for Japanese Embroidery.

Japanese flat silk is dyed long filament silk.  It comes on long cardboard tubes (Mary's got photos and links to more info about flat silk) and you can stitch with it as it comes off the tube.  I have done so for geisha hair and it works beautifully!  I've always wondered how flat silk is twisted for Japanese Embroidery myself.  I have books that show the technique but they lack much detail, so I am going to watch these videos over and over, both to satisfy my curiosity and perhaps master a technique to use at a later date....
