Luna's Moon

I have been struggling
with stitching the moon for two days now.  I think I'm finally on the right track.  It's been hard because the moon is one of the few touches of color in the design.  I want it to stand out but not be too prominent.  Luna is the main thing in the design so the moon stitches must not detract from her.

If you've ever watched Bridezillas on U.S. television and heard the bride complain that her bridesmaids look better than she does, then you will know what I've been dealing with here.  That Luna is very demanding!

Loved it. What thread did you use? My favorite color too.

I've mixed silks and metallics to get this effect. Once I finish the clouds I'll know better what else to do to the full moon itself.

The moon reminds me of a moon I stitched for one of my Halloween ornaments. I used the glow in the dark Kreinik. Wonder how it would look in a canvas this big

I hadn't thought of using Kreinik's glow in the dark threads. Do they have a purple? Yes, they do. Here's a video of them in action.

Love the clouds through it!

Thank you! The clouds were easy to do but coming up with just the right idea was hard. I had the perfect stitch that just wouldn't work due to the irregular shape of the clouds!

Durn. But that's how it goes. My second choice turned out to be Just The Thing.
