Pirate Cat Bandana and Belt

Dressing the Pirate Cat
Our Pirate Cat has his shoulder belt finished, the belt buckle restitched with reverse tent \ on top of the original tent / stitches because the Very Velvet was hiding the silver metallic with fuzz, and the neck scarf and head bandana are stitched.  Interestingly, the bandana looks smooth in real life but the photo emphasizes areas where the longer stitches aren't 100% smooth.  I'll go over them with my laying tool again and see if I can make that better.

Great job Jane. Now i feel like stitching this cat. A lot easier with your guidance. I am currently stitching a biker Santa for my brother (needless to say he loves his bike) and it is sometimes hard to find stitches for small spaces - lots of reading (and searching your website for ideas).

I looked at the cute purses in your post above for one of the clubs and they remind me of some baskets I saw in Fireside for one of their clubs. They're seasonal baskets, not monthly baskets

Palma, small stitches can sometimes be found in stitch dictionaries. Brenda Hart often has a chapter in her books of stitches for small areas. SuZy Murphy has a book just of stitches for small areas--Mini Stitches.

She also has a book called Small Stitches which I've seen and like very much but it isn't really just stitches for small areas.

Browse your stitch book chapter headings and see if they've set aside a section for smaller areas. And rummage through books looking for stitches that cover just a few threads. You often will find them with some hunting.

Thank you for the advice Jane. I have several books but most of them do not specify uses for the stitches. I got the "Stitches for effect" the 3 of them and they're very helpful and were quite an asset for this Santa which is really turning out cute. Left with the beard and mustache and the cuffs on Santa's jacket. Back to "research" tomorrow. Will look for hte "small stitches" book - as I do a lot of ornaments it will probably be very useful

Jane, you won't believe this. Went to Amy's websote to look at the book and guess what? I bought it sometime ago (when I was stitching big things) and completely forgot about it. It's probably in the basement. Yey, I'm good. Owe you one. You made my day
